In the end, the mass of MMO players just did not seem ready for an MMO like Auto Assault. It was completely off from the norm and back in 2006, nobody was really pining for change in the industry. Today, the landscape for MMOs is much different as many gamers are calling for new games with fresh ideas. Had Auto Assault been developed for today's market with today's technology it may have survived and actually become successful. Unfortunately, that's not the case and because it failed back then chances are we won't ever see another game of it's type. A sad, sad truth. . .

We couldn't agree more, it's was a tragedy to simply terminate so much potential so soon...

I have to say I was totally unaware of Auto Assault, id seen the advert on NCsofts site but never having been a fan of car games per se i never really followed the link, plus the name didnt really grab me... however that said i was intrigued by the numerous threads i've seen of people saying they would revive this game more than any other if they had the option, so did a little digging, read some fforums, watched some youtube vids and i have to say im sad i missed this game as it looked a whole bucketload of post apocalypsian style road warrior, mad mxish goodness, and very much something, had I been aware of i would have tried.

It's a shame. After this, I've had a hard time really staying excited about any other MMO that may catch my attention. I beta tested a couple last year, but that's it.

Yeah, Auto Assault was bastardized unfairly by the general MMO audience, with little to no positive feedback, due to the way it was launched. It's a sad story indeed.

No chance of it getting hosted, resurrected under another company at all?

Sadly, the answer is a big fat no, for too many reasons, one of which it requires explicit cooperation between NCsoft and NetDevil. I don't expect anything like that to happen in the immediate future.
