Weapons
Weapons have the most data to consider before you decide whether they are worth using. It's unwise to go simply by DPS in Auto Assault, even though these aren't abilities that add instant, full-damage attacks. DPS is a solid measure of a weapon's damage dealt over time, but it is only one of many indicators of the device's total worth in battle.
Best weapons are usually the ones balanced between their Rate of Fire, Heat Per Shot, Accuracy and DPS. You must take overheating into consideration and the amount of power available for attacks. Penetration is an important stat on higher level weapons, and is favored to counter Deflection on enemy's Armor.
